Way of the Roses

The Crown is proud to support the Way of the Roses cycle route – one of Britain’s best ‘coast-to-coast’ routes.

For 170 miles between Morecambe and Bridlington, this highly popular route passes through historic cities York and Lancaster, and lesser known gems such as Settle, Pateley Bridge and Ripon. From coast to coast, you’ll cycle across beautiful, varied landscape including the Lune Valley, Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Wolds and use traffic-free paths, on-road cycle lanes, country lanes and quieter roads. It’s a challenge but rewarding cycling adventure for all.

The Crown Hotel Bar & Bistro is an ideal place to stay before embarking on the route. We are located centrally on Morecambe promenade, just a ten-minute drive from the M6 motorway junction at Lancaster, via the new Bay Gateway link.

All rooms are en-suite and come complete with tea making facilities and TVs. Our recently refurbished bar and restaurant serves a variety of food and drink seven days a week. Please see our dining and bar pages for details.

We have secure storage for cycles and small or large groups can be accommodated comfortably.
